Thanksgiving Dinner
avatar

Every family deserves to be able to come together over a turkey and trimmings on Thanksgiving.  But here in the South Bronx, too many of our friends and neighbors are facing harsh food insecurity.  Almost one third of Bronx residents don’t know where their next meal is coming from. That’s approximately 400,000 individuals — not to mention 20% of Bronx children who will go to bed hungry tonight. Poverty, hunger, and housing insecurity are already difficult enough. And for many, the holiday season can be especially challenging.

Here at Step Up for Better Living, we’re always looking for a new way to help support our community. That’s why we’re pleased to announce our new Holiday Emergency Food Fund! Through November, we’ll be co-sponsoring three pop-up holiday distributions. We’ll be purchasing 1,000 turkeys to distribute over the course of these three events. But, of course, what’s a Thanksgiving dinner without trimmings? So that our clients can complete their Thanksgiving meal, we’ll also be handing out 1,000 grocery gift cards.

For updates on our Holiday Emergency Food Fund, such as dates and locations of distributions, please make sure to follow our social media channels. You can find us on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

We’re honored, as always, to partner on this project with our friends at Wavecrest Management and Food Bank for New York City. We have partnered with Wavecrest and Food Bank before, on a series of pop-up food distributions over the past several months. We’re excited to join forces with these great organizations once more.

With your help, we can give families in our community a Thanksgiving dinner they’ll never forget. Can you chip in $5 to our Holiday Emergency Food Fund today? Every dollar will go towards helping South Bronx families come together over a turkey and trimmings this holiday season. Every little bit helps.
